It was a sunny afternoon in June when I decided to join the garden tour organized by the Association of Professional Women (APW). As a lover of nature and a keen garden enthusiast, I was excited to explore the hidden treasures of my city and discover the beauty of the different gardens.
The tour began at 10:00 am, and we were a group of around 20 people, including experts in horticulture, aspiring gardeners, and curious citizens like myself. We started our journey with a visit to the botanical garden, where we admired the exotic plants and learned about their unique features and care requirements. We then moved on to small, private gardens of local citizens and explored their creative designs and ideas for using limited spaces.
The tour lasted for about 6 hours, and we visited a total of 10 different gardens, each with its charm and beauty. From the sprawling lawns of the city park to the carefully curated rooftop gardens of modern buildings, the tour was an eye-opening experience that helped us appreciate the value of greenery in our lives.
The garden tour is not just a fun and educational activity, but it also serves a vital purpose in promoting the value of nature and green spaces in our communities. Here are a few quantifiable examples of how garden tours can benefit our society:
The garden tour is an event organized by APW to commemorate Statehood Day and celebrate the cultural and natural heritage of our city. Statehood Day is a significant day for our community, as it marks the day when our city became an independent state.
On this occasion, APW has also announced winners of the Statehood Day competition, where citizens were invited to submit their entries showcasing the unique perspectives of our city's history, culture, and people. The winners will be awarded prizes and recognition at the Statehood Day ceremony on June 11, which will be attended by notable personalities, government officials, and citizens alike.
