Being a parent is a journey filled with joy, love and challenges. As a mother of 10, I have experienced both highs and lows of parenting and I want to share my story with you.
From One to Ten
When I decided to start a family, I never thought I would have 10 children. My husband and I had a plan to have two or three children, but as time went by, our family grew and we were blessed with 10 beautiful children.
Having a large family is not without its challenges, but it has been one of the greatest joys of my life. Watching my children grow and develop into their own unique individuals has been an honor and a privilege.
The Highs of Parenting
One of the greatest joys of parenting is watching your child achieve a goal they have set for themselves. Whether it's mastering a new skill, winning a sports competition or getting into their dream college, the feeling of pride and joy is indescribable.
Another high of parenting is the love and affection children show towards their parents. Even when they are all grown up, they never forget to show their appreciation for everything you have done for them.
Finally, being a parent gives you a sense of purpose in life. Knowing that you are responsible for shaping another human being and watching them become a successful adult is a feeling that cannot be compared to anything else.
The Lows of Parenting
While the highs of parenting are amazing, there are also lows that can be just as intense. One of the biggest challenges is dealing with the constant worry and fear for your child's safety and wellbeing.
Another low is the feeling of disappointment when your child does not meet your expectations. As parents, we want nothing but the best for our children, but sometimes they may not live up to our standards.
Finally, parenting can be exhausting both physically and mentally. The day-to-day grind of raising a family can take its toll on parents, but it's important to take breaks and recharge in order to continue to give your children the best you have to offer.
Conclusion
In conclusion, being a parent is one of the most rewarding experiences life has to offer. While there are certainly highs and lows, the love and joy that comes with raising a family is unmatched. My three main takeaways from my experience as a mother of 10 are:
- Parenting is a journey filled with both highs and lows.
- The love and joy that comes with raising a family is truly unmatched.
- It's important to take breaks and recharge in order to continue to give your children the best you have to offer.
Remember to cherish the moments, both good and bad, and enjoy the journey.
One of my sons struggled with dyslexia throughout his schooling years. However, with lots of support and hard work, he was able to overcome his challenges and attend a prestigious university. Seeing him achieve his dreams despite the obstacles he faced was one of the greatest joys of my life.
Practical Tips
- Take breaks whenever possible, even if it's just for a few minutes each day.
- Remember to always show your love and appreciation for your children.
- Don't set unrealistic expectations for your children, but instead encourage them to do their best and support them along the way.
