Helen Flanagan, best known for playing Rosie Webster in the long-running British soap opera Coronation Street, recently opened up about her experiences as a parent. Flanagan, mother of two young daughters, shared some insightful thoughts on the challenges and joys of raising children.
Flanagan talked about the immense joy that comes with being a parent, especially when her daughters reach milestones or show signs of affection.
She said, "It's just the best feeling in the world when my daughters tell me they love me, or give me a hug and a kiss. It reminds me why I love being a parent and why I wouldn't trade it for anything."
Flanagan also mentioned how much she enjoys watching her daughters learn and grow into their own unique personalities.
Of course, being a parent comes with its fair share of challenges, and Flanagan is no stranger to them. She emphasized the importance of having a good support system, both in the form of a partner and family members.
Flanagan also talked about the guilt that many parents feel for taking time for themselves, whether it's going to work or pursuing a hobby. She admitted that she struggles with this guilt as well, but knows that it's important for her mental health and overall well-being.
Flanagan stressed the importance of finding a balance between being a parent and taking care of one's own needs. She explained that it's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day tasks of parenting, but it's important to take a step back and think about what will make oneself happy and fulfilled.
She said, "Taking care of yourself is just as important as taking care of your children. You need to make time for yourself and your own interests."
To achieve this balance, Flanagan suggested finding a hobby or activity that one truly enjoys, and making time for it regularly.
Flanagan shared a personal anecdote about how her daughters have taught her to slow down and appreciate the little things in life. She said that before becoming a parent, she was always in a rush and focused on achieving her goals quickly.
Now, however, she has learned to slow down and appreciate the small moments with her daughters, like reading a book or going for a walk together.
